Looks like the "first frost" will occur right on schedule. Saturday night's forecast is 26 degrees, and Saturday is supposed to be sunny. Now all I have to do is get out of bed at 4:30 am and drive to Allentown.
I'll break out my long woolies.

Yep...gonna be cold in line...better here than York
-Greg
I normally hang around the HamFam until a bit later and just walk into the hall, no standing in line and freezing. I still get in early, just not cold.

I usually park, walk around the farmers market to decide what to buy for supper (wife is with female friends/relatives in Aruba), and walk over to the show at 8:15 (after the line gets shorter). It seems like more and more people are getting "early bird" tickets, which sort of lessons the appeal of getting them in the first place.
I should make it.

I am seriously thinking of going to Allentown on Sunday with 2 of my friends. I missed York this time around and could fill that void with a good, large show.
I am vacationing in National Harbor in Maryland after visiting Washington, DC on Thursday and doing the White House tour snd coming home on Saturday.
Hoping to make it on Sunday.

After the breakfast, I like to get over there and get a good parking spot. Then I just relax in my car until the doors open and the line wears down. My back is pretty bad, so I don’t want to waste precious upright time just standing in line.

I don't think I'll leave the HamFam until 8:00 - it's ugly out tonight. Cold never used to bother me - I must be getting old!
-Greg
Thought about it but would have to leave at 2AM to get there at 630 and I really need my beauty sleep. Those of you who have met me understand.
What the H am I doing up at 4:30 am? Oh, that's right, I'm going to Allentown for breakfast.

Ok, where's the pic of Chuck and his foo-foo pancakes? When his order came more cameras came out than when a Kardashian makes a public appearance.

Great pic of the strawberry pancakes!

Ended up having to skip it this morning, my brother needed my help at the shop. May try and head up tomorrow.
Great breakfast and great show. Had a "early" 8 am ticket. By 9:30 the place was mobbed, and when I left at 10:30, they were still pouring in. I didn't plan on buying anything, but left with 6 items. I could not resist the very big selection of nice postwar American Flyer stuff. It was almost on par with York in that respect.
It was great seeing you, Joe!
It was great to see everyone!

See you on Sunday, my work had a safety meeting today up at the Lackawanna station hotel in Scranton. I did get to hear Baldwin 0-6-0 #26 go by.....
Hope to get back sometime soon......I think my last trip was in 14 .
Chuck is up to his old tricks, you should have seen all the cellphones out to take pictures of his FooFoo pancakes!
Breakfast attendance was a little sparse this time, but we more than made up for it with plenty of light hearted camaraderie. (Just ask Chuck!)
Breakfast pics follow along with the requisite 11:00 Photo Shot. Last is a shot of Judy our great 11:00 photographer, who always has to brave climbing on a chair for us.

Note: Chuck does actually eat those foo-foo pancakes!

Thanks for posting the pics, always good to see folks there. The show seemed better than usual (and the usual is pretty good) - very well attended, lots of buyers and sellers.
Jim
Great pics and, I'm sure, it was great fun!

Boy, that was some crew in the group picture at the OGR booth. We are handsome devils,,,not!
The show was one of the best Allentown's in the last few years. Great people to talk with and great sales as well. Just still recovering from it all. Had to do some OGR editorial chores when I got home to Ohio. Will finally have time to get my Allentown photos out of the camera tomorrow. In the meantime, I would like to thank all the people who came up to visit and talk about the magazine. Best part of the Allentown show for me.
Thanks for sharing
