One of the reasons I asked about getting better rolling ability out of S scale cars is that I am in the process of scratch building the AFT with a Reading T1 (2101), yes the entire 27 car train.

I talked to Ed Wiswesser over the weekend, who did all the Reading Technical Society drawings and he's getting me the 1/4 scale blueprints - yes he charges.

Butch Curl (GATSME HO railroad) has the entire 27 car train in HO and posted it on the internet on the old GATSME Layout.  John Finn also has the consist in HO (originally he had it in O scale with the T1 and the Daylight, but he sold it - too heavy to lug to shows).

Twenty-Seven cars would be a heck of a lead if the cars aren't free wheeling.

The other T1 (2100) will pull a 8 to 10 car Reading Ramble.

Thanks for all the help with needle point axels and bushings.

Francine,

The AFT usually had a helper diesel as part of the consist, so that would give you more pulling power if the T1 can't handle the whole train.  The railroad the AFT was currently on provided the diesel power, so it was always changing.

Most of the time the T1 or GS-4 could handle the train without any helper, but had the "helper" anyway to help advertise the railroad company.
