I purchases two Amtrak F40PH's, #364 and #388. #388 ran for 15 minutes before it shorted out. I contacted Lionel the next day, received a shipping label, and sent it off. They received it on a Monday, and shipped it out on the following Wednesday. "Repaired exposed wire which was the source of the short". I consider a 48 hour turn around VERY GOOD service. I wish the problem had not happened, but greatly appreciate the quick turn around time.
Yep, I got both of mine back pretty quickly as well. If you haven't fixed #364, I'd check and make sure the wire isn't rubbing on that one as well. Did you see my thread on the number board lighting?
There are some interior pictures to show you the proper wire routing to avoid the flywheel cutting the insulation and shorting things out. The number boards are powered directly from track power, so if that wire insulation wears off, you can get fireworks inside.
