To CALNNC and everyone, Thank you for mentioning Helene. Indeed, we must not forget the people, victims and the devastating loss of those displaced, the loss of property and life. I hope that the local media in Helene is continuing to update the story. Has the news moved on and stopped reporting? I don't live in NC, has there been any updates?  And more must be done to support our American citizens. And we don't hear of any updates about the freight train that derailed in February 2023 in East Palestine, Ohio. I read on the Trains Magazine Daily News Feed, which is part of my subscription, that the derailment was on Feb. 3rd, and I believe the news story did not go National until Feb. 15, 2023.

Don't forget those affected by Helene in NC.  It is getting colder here, displaced people are sill living in tents waiting for those FEMA trailers, people are still looking for loved ones.  Some will never be found. There is a lot of 'empty' in their lives.

As a member of the WNC community, we are reminded daily of the hardships of our "neighbors". I often post on my personal FB page updates and stories. I do not want people to forget. It will go down into the low 20s each night coming up and even 18 on Monday. Yes, many are still in tents or in tiny homes which are basically sheds built by volunteers, Mennonite and others. These folks did not have flood insurance because they were not in a flood zone! Also, many lost homes due to mudslides which were not covered either. Who knew that you needed flood ins for a mudslide, not me? Here in Hendersonville, there were 4 deaths that I know of, and I only know that because of FB. The work of the volunteer groups, churches, and many individuals helping each other has been so humbling.
