Hi,

I admit it, I'm a Slobbering Pennsy Freak but I'm trying to model a NYC Pacemaker Boxcar and I could use some help with the color scheme.  I realize that it's a 2 color red and gray but the big question is 'What about the ends & roof?'

It seems like each manufacturer (Lionel, MTH, Weaver etc) does it differently (or the most cost effective).  But what did the actual ones look like?

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Is there a NYC Historical & Tech Society?

Thanks,

Artie

I think the color blocking goes all the way round, i.e. red and grey ends, with a red roof. There were also boxcar brown pacemaker cars. Despite the publicity photos, its my understanding that the big blocks of these cars or whole unit trains of matching cars, rarely or never happened in actual practice.

Theres a good bit of info around the internet on them, and the NYC does have a historical society  nycshs.org

Hi, The pacemaker cars were red on top and halfway down all four sides and grey on the bottom all four sides , their is a real good pic of a freshly painted boxcar in the book NYC Color Guide to Freight & Passenger Equipment .
