Or Alex can trim back the bracket as he sees fit to mount the sensor like this install,…similar, but same principal,….there’s just no room to top mount the sensor on the motor, given the cab roof layout ……same basic principle, but the sensor board faces opposite of how I’ve seen you install them…..
I figured there was some method to the madness, just wasn't sure what it was.

Yep,…I’m always so scared on these Pulmor swaps that I’m going to mash the sensor up against the roof of the firebox, I sought after an alternative route to mount it,….the board obviously don’t care if it’s facing fore or aft, as long as the sensor itself can read the stripes,…win,….😁
Pat
I've mounted them a number of ways, even remotely with a small add-on board...

John, I’ve actually changed that bracket just a little bit, and now you can see better it’s purpose …..I’m just pre-routing wires for Alex’s job, he can move them around as he sees fit for his installs,…

Hi Pat, sorry to chime in on this thread. Can you contact me about the Jinty bushings please?

Yep,….remind me tomorrow morning to get them off to you,….

Sorry was a bit busy this morning, but here is the requested reminder.
Hello all,
Great thread , and some beautiful work being done ! I'm looking forward to completing this masterpiece!
Thanks, Alex
Oh boy, I have had a busy week, and sure that Pat has had just about the same as well. I got some running around to do today as I am late to go food shopping, but I am sure that something will arise here to get things moving. All I can say is that anticipation can be good, and can be bad, but the eventual outcome is going to be something truly amazing.

Dave, you reminded me of an old Carly Simon song! It can't be 50 years already!!!!!!!!
Nail on the head Mark. Once my Mohawk gets over to Alex, it is going to be more anticipation and will be completely amazing once done. A beast may best describe it when it is done, much like all that come out of the Harmon Shops. How about yours Mark? Will it be heading there?
That's great Dave!
Pat has my Hudson right now. We have already gone over all that he will be doing to it. It is basically the "Works like Larry's" Why not, while he has it! I know at least one more engine besides yours is ahead of it. Maybe more. That's quite alright. I waited 25 years between tearing down my last 'permanent' layout and starting construction on my present one, so I think I can wait.
Such nice work... and here's a question: since it appears that most of Pat's work is on "scale" size engines, wouldn't these threads be more fitting in the "3 Rail Scale" forum, as opposed to the "traditional toy train" group?
Just curious...

Nope, …..the line in the sand is the crab claw coupler,….so, as detailed as they are, they need to stay in this forum,…..I am building one for a fella that’s getting scale couplers and what not ….his is already posted in the 3 rail scale forum,……

Pat
Got it; thanks for the clarification.
BTW, I picked up another one of those Williams #4949 Pacifics...and thanks to you, have ordered a Mabuchi 555 to go with it!

That's good, patience. I myself still have a lot of work to do here. Not sure anything will be getting done today as it is football season and I have to support the Steelers. Before I sit down and relax I still have to get my windshield clear. I've been trying to clean it for a few weeks with smearing issues. Got some isopropyl alcohol yesterday to clean it up right.
I'm not to concerned on timeline. I know however long it takes it is in great hands. I'm talking about the Hudson here as I know there is a line. Pat also has my 763 with the Vandy tender as well, so both will be getting an overhaul when they get pulled into the Harmon Shops Roundhouse.
The anticipation is over for Dave’s 18009 Mohawk,….here’s the builder’s photos,…done, ready for delivery to Alex M……added cab windows, crew, and some finer details,….notice how this toy looks more like a model,….😉

Gotta love it. Awesome Pat, truly magnificent.
Also like the gauges too!
Here’s Dave’s Mohawk on a shake down run to make sure mechanical systems are good before Alex does his magic,…..motor is only drawing 1 amp,…..very smooth starts & stops, ….you’ll notice a little wobble in the tender, buts that’s only because it’s fully gutted inside and light as a feather at the moment,……the locomotive is very smooth pulling this train, so added electronics will be icing on the cake!…

That is magic. She hasn't pulled that many cars since an I'll fated carpet run in the living room. I don't remember how many, but I do know that run was in the mid 1990's and resulted in a few cars derailing. Gotta love that magic. Excellent Pat. Wait until Alex gets her, he may keep her for some fun on his layout(for a bit, lol).

She’ll pull more than that with ease on level track Dave,….at an amp, your rebuilt Mohawk isn’t even breaking a sweat,……40-50 cars on gentle curves would be the norm,……
Pat
PAT!!! I'm coming up for Air! Really, Really Nice Work!

I just have to educate myself on my rolling stock and know how to place it(after I get a layout built).
Dave's Mohawk looks and runs great, Pat!!!
Well fellows, I’ve been away for awhile and I’m happily/thrilled to say, I had the honor to visit Harmonyards, Yes, “The Harmon Shops” and met the CEO and his wonderful VP, yes his wife in person and his layout and shops are Top Shelf, Fantastic, wonderful and the trains run like finely tuned precision clocks, perfection in motion. It was such a memorable experience, my wife and I planned our vacation around his part of the country, allowing us to go across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and underwater tunnels, which is really close to Harmonyards. North Carolina. Pat is truly a great craftsman. These pictures are of Pats layout where his track (Atlas O), is laid flawless, smooth and quiet as I’ve ever seen. He had 2 trains running, in conventional mode, sounds off and they ran for hours pulling lots of cars, maybe 50 cars on the freight train and 10 heavyweight passenger cars on the beautiful passenger train, never derailing, never over heating, just quietly going to their dream destinations. Wow. before our visit, we checked out the North Carolina Transportation Train Museum near Salisbury, and then on to Virginia Beach as my wife loves the ocean. Harmonyards was the main attraction. Thank you Pat and Tammy for a great 9-11, we had a grand ole time. Unforgettable. Happy Railroading Everyone

Larry, it sounds like you had a great visit with Pat and Tammy.
I was finally able to complete Dave’s 3000. Here’s the run down …
ERR Cruise commander , ERR large steam sounds , 50mm fat boy speaker , custom Lionel fan driven smoke unit , GRJ super chuffer and chuff generator, electro coupler , and LED’s.
Here’s a short video of it in action

It runs and sounds great, Alex!
Great job, Pat and Alex!
Really nice Alex. I remember when these first came out. SO much improved here - especially the smoke effects. You did a great job.
ALEX WELL DONE AGAIN!!! U DA MAN!!!
I just got back home after popping down the my LTS. Power went out here while I was out, but is back on now. I did promise a carpet run, that will come later.
All I can say is that this project really blew my mind and my expectations. You always think about just how the engine will change with the upgrade, but you also come to realize how much more was done that make your engine even more realistic than what it was. Hats off to Pat @harmonyards & Alex @Alex M making this all possible. I am just blown away with everything that went into this.
The great thing is, I have more engines that need work/upgrades, some already in the works, others yet to get underway. Better believe that both Pat and Alex will be heading some of these projects, maybe both on the same one. I guess we'll have to wait and see what comes.
PS., someone named Dave needs to dismantle a treadmill still before any layout can be built, and all these wonderful engines and more can run. Someone needs to get on his case, lol. DAVE!!!!!
Alex, great job!!!…..really puts the icing on the cake!…..we’re 2 for 2 now buddy,….more to come!…
Pat
Wow you guys do awsome work. These engines once done buy you too run flawlessly. Harmonyards your layout is very well done. I love the way you did the sides and the top edges of your layout. I may do that to my next layout some day. The built in shelves look great. Also thanks leaping larry for the nice photos.
Well, I managed to get 3000 underneath the Christmas Tree layout and get some great movies and pictures. I may have taken too many....NAH!!
