my experience with fastrack is limited to the Thomas set, which is why I had to seek help on expanding the track plan.
I have noticed on the forum that fastrack switches get a lot of love.
Why is that?

Because they provide smooth operation and are very reliable
Including remote operation?
I have never owned other brands... but I love my fastrack 0-72 switches.I can back my big articulated steam engines through a double crossover at a decent speed without de railing.I had one or two bad ones out of the box out of 27 but my LHS exchanged them immediately.Cant ask for more.Nick
FasTrack turnouts can be hooked up to a MTH AIU. I'm not really clear on how it's done. I have five O72 turnouts on my mainlines and another 8 in the yard area. I only installed them last week and don't own an AIU.
It's very easy to connect the Fastrack switches to the AUI, here's one thread of probably many on the topic: https://ogrforum.com/t...09#35076991740451009

I've used both the 036 and the newest 072 Command version of the Fastrack switches. They've been very reliable and super smooth with all of our motive power and rolling stock.
And add the fact that they work great in Command Control. No wires. Life is good.
I love the Fastrack remote switches. I have 072's, 048's, and a couple 036's. They're great. Smooth and easy. Highly recommend.
They are GREAT. I have 23 of them on the layout (22 O72 and 1 O36) Never have a problem. They are bullet proof
