Another local Hobby Shop just announced that they will be closing. P& D Hobby in Fraser MI, will be closing their doors. The closing sale will begin soon. Since the owner Pat passed away a couple of years ago, his son tried to keep the store going - but Covid hit. And we all know that story. They were the go to store for all O Scale detail parts - etc. I had been going to the store for over 30 years. Sorry to see another one close - this one will really be missed for the O Scale parts.

I only got to visit the store once, it was a great store for add on parts. I have ordered from them over the Internet.

These guys were the go-to people for Weaver repairs in my opinion. I actually have 4 engines out there right now. This leaves a huge void in potential Weaver service. The people there were also great to deal with. I for one will miss them. Bill Park
As above, on the north side, of Detroit, l only got there twice, but wanted to get back for parts and to explore. There is nobody? else that has O scale parts?..Chicago sites l had used are dwindled, closed, or gotten rid of O scale parts.
they said they will continue to provide there products via internet sales , so looks like we are still safe for anything that was P&D.
In the past the Detroit area had many hobby and train stores but time has taken it's toll on the owners. My wife and I have both worked at P&D and it is the last of it's kind around here. We only have one more shop in the area. One other is still open but the new generation has turn it into a mostly high scale toy store.
I enjoyed shopping there when in the Detroit area. They were even open some weeknights ! Great selection. Nice to know they’re still going to be online.
Sad to see it go. I’ve shopped at their fine store over the years and always felt lucky to have it nearby. I would always stop in on the way to Wild Bill’s. They had a great selection of detail parts and paints along with a lot of modeling materials.

and you are NOT KIDDING! Not to mention special cab interior kits sold and specialty brass parts for certain O scale diesels!
Guys....while the physical store is going to close, as said above, they will be on the internet. So ... all is not lost in this case
Been there. Many years ago. I was at an LCCA convention (with Lionel factory tour) in the early 90's, and hooked up with a Detroit-resident attendee, so he knew his way around. That was a train store. Saw my first R-O-W brass 3RO loco there.
Too bad, I guess, though I live a thousand miles south, and wasn't likely to get back.
Pat was awesome, the detailing materials were exceptional. Big lose for the 2r community.

Since I've only dealt with these wonderful, service oriented gentlemen by phone and email, I am greatly relieved that they will continue with their etail biz

What a shame! Too bad. This doesn't leave us very much in the Detroit Metro Area. Great shop. I have a real nice passenger car set that was custom painted by them.
Any known reasons why they are closing?
