This has been a week for us at the emergency room. Monday we were there because my wife fell flat on her face in the driveway and broke her nose, cracked ribs, concussion, and facial lacerations. After several hours we were on our way home. Earlier this week I cut a finger and this morning when I got up it was obvious that an infection was well underway. Off to the hospital again. It was the same doctor that had helped my wife on Monday. Today I was wearing a train related shirt and he immediately started talking trains. He had been into American Flyer as a kid and then went to HO for space considerations. He now is ready to start building a new layout and wanted some advice. He had recently been to Charles Ro.

Well, I have a new train friend and he is coming to our home to get a look at our layout and to get some ideas. And yes, he did help me with my infected finger. He said it was the best emergency room incident he had experienced this year.

Thanks Greg:

My wife is very resilient and is doing much better. The only thing that is really bothering her now is an occasional sneeze and her appearance with a very bruised face that will soon correct itself.

In terms of me, it was a simple procedure to drain built up fluids and some antibiotics that should correct this quickly.

It was almost like not being at the hospital but at a friend's house discussing trains and all the new innovations that have occurred since he was active with trains. I have to tell you, it was a blast and I paid little attention to the scalpel as I love to talk trains with a new friend.
