The PS3 equipped Chapelon and Bavarian Pacifics, which were some of if not the earliest PS3 locomotives I believe, had a resistor value problem on a circuit card.  If not corrected, the loco would stop working and/or other damage might result [ I am recalling the wording of the MTH advisory from memory here ].  A quick OGR Forum search turns up mention of it in November 2011, but I think it was on the MTH website as well.

Whether any domestic prototype MTH locos were afflicted or not I can't say.  A friend of mine has both these locos and I remember nagging -- I mean, reminding -- him at the time to get the mod done before he powered them up, as he was 'layout deprived' and they might be out of warrenty when he eventually first ran them.

Best regards, SZ

Edited to add:  The Service Advisory is still on the MTH website, and it mentions only the Chapelon and the 241A as being affected.  [ My friend also had the 241A, so I recalled two locos, just got one wrong above.]
