So we have featured Friday this, Thursday that etc. focusing on Boxcars, tank cars etc.

I've never seen PostWar Lionel's die-cast depressed center short flatcars featured her. So here goes with some of mine:

Looking at the pics, maybe I'll feature more Vat cars here in the future

A Lionel one with an "unknown" load:

Note that it now has the proper brake wheels installed. When I first saw it, I thought that it was a Marx car and wondered just who would two-rail a Marx car!

Depressed-center flats are a favorite; they must be, I have over twenty of them, four Lionels that have been two-railed:

I always wanted one as kid but they were too costly for my parents to afford. I finally got a fifth one that is bone stock and will stay that way.

Not Lionel, but a favorite and very similar General Models/All Nation one in cast bronze:

Neat stuff.

This load looks like it was cut from a rattle can spray paint cover - is it?

OK - here's one of those Lionels that we all wanted, with some old 2RO (bronze?) 8-wheel trucks. Thing is, I 3-railed the 2-rail trucks with hi-rail wheel sets, then photographed this now 3RO car on a 2RO photo diorama. I added an un-needed "board" for my private road name for better visibility, which was silly.

I really do not know what it is, but I suspect not a spray can top as it is about three inches in diameter. Plus the edges (top and bottom) are much too smooth and even to have been cut without a shipload of expensive equipment and time/effort.

EDIT: A thought just occurred to me as I posted. I thought of a co-axial cable/tube that this is the centre insulator to separate the outer and inner conductors; just a thought.

I love it!!

I (someday) plan to do the same as far as naming all (or most) of my heavy-duty fleet on the order of the R. J. Korman fleet. I have not decided on a name yet but some fleet numbering schemes (some based on wheels/trucks) have floated through the morass of my mind.

Thanks. I was pretty happy with my "Massive Equipment Forwarding Co." - generic but descriptive. That piece of "massive" equipment on my car is a Marx motor/rev unit assembly from who knows what?

I think my trucks need to be a bit lighter in color - maybe the same color as the car. Maybe.

I love conversions like this. Just enough complication to make it interesting, not so much to make it complex.
