The box from my son's 2010 "The Scout" RTR set is getting a bit worn. It's also not the best size for storage and transport to and from the grandparents' house. Is there any reason to keep the box? I've kept the cars he's gotten separately in their boxes, but I'm not sure there's going to be much collector value for a basic Scout set box or that we'd ever sell it anyway.

I keep the boxes for higher end stuff, but I doubt it's necessary to keep that one.
I agree with John. If you have a better box for transport, then use it.
Toss it i favor of something from the home storage section at Target along with some bubble wrap

Throw it in the attic and ask again in 75 years
The ones I found in mine got me a few hundred knocked off the new train bill
Thanks for the advice,
I recently discovered trading card boxes (post about this coming soon) as an excellent option for cheaply storing my loose cars. I think I'll ditch the big box and move everything into individual boxes and then into a much easier-to-transport thrift-store suitcase.
The trading car boxes are really well suited for many sizes of cars. Check the 'Bay closely for good prices. I have purchased many of these, and really like them. And, they're really easy to label for contents. Just use a magic marker. Bob S.
Doubt it would be worth saving but who knows what will happen in30-40 years! I have a Polar Express in it's original box and the darn thing is terrible because it stores the trains and the track on two different sides of the foam box!! Worse box design I think I ever saw.
I certainly wouldn't bother saving the track or transformer. I have a few sets with boxes like this too. Mostly, I have sold off the track and transformers anyway.

Normally that would be my impulse, but the attic is living space and I'm running out of storage space.

That's the same kind of box arrangement that my sons Scout set has. It's really annoying and even when I slide the foam into the box on a flat surface I'm always feeling like I'm going to drop something out when I turn it over.
