Hello all

I have a new RevL PS3 TIU coming to replace my PS2 unit.

I have about 7 models doubled into two remotes (which as would be thought will be getting reused) and an AIU plugged into the TIU. As well I have a few custom sounds in the PS2 TIU.

So really don't have much time with all the nuttiness of the holidays, so was hoping for any tips on making the swap out as fast and simple as possible.

For instance, is there anything special I need to do to keep all the models in the remotes and if not, will they stay there with all the menu settings for each one, or will I have to add all the engines again and reset them all up again the way they are now? Guess I'm wondering if all the info is in the remote or is there anything in the TIU?

Is there anything special I have to do for the AIU? Or do I just plug that in and let the TIU find it?

Is there any setting up of anything I could/need to do with my computer for something like, saving any setup files from my old unit to my new one?

So kinda looking for info like that.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Assuming that your older model TIU is the only TIU that you have and that it's DCS ID # is "1", all you need to do is swap out the old TIU for the new one. Unfortunately, you'll lose your Custom Sounds as well as any Record/Playback sessions you previously recorder. That cannot be avoided.

That's it - your engines and AIUs will still be there.

Just be sure that only one TIU is powered up at a time.

This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site!

Thanks!

Cool. thanks for the info Barry.

Yeah am assuming the custom sounds will be same to add as before.

Basically I actually did this by straight connection from the headset output of my laptop to the mic in connection on the TIU I think it was, then did the record and played the wav file on the laptop.

So should work the same am guessing.

Btw with the improvement of the signal, is there any better playback of customs sounds. Not trying to sound like I'm knocking it, but it would be kinda scratchy most of the time and worse if the train was moving.

Thanks again for the help.

I have no idea as regards any improvement. However, you'll know soon enough!

Hey Barry, just to report, the new TIU made a significant improvement to the custom sounds playback. Much clearer and with lots less static. Almost none to speak of really.

Finally I can play the sound and run the train at the same time.
