Posted awhile back about a Legacy K4 that I had to fix the drive gear problem that  ultimately resulted in a cascade of other problems. (See pulling the drivers on a legacy K4) Had to replace the RCMC board. That got everything going again, except the smoke, and whistle steam. I can’t control the smoke volume. It runs full volume all the time. Can’t turn it down. Tried moving the thermistors closer to the resistors but no change. Could the thermistors be damaged, and do they have a value that can be tested? The smoke elements test at 8 ohms. Don’t know if the thermistors could be bad, or I got a defective RCMC board.
