Re: No Sound

Today at a train show I purchased a PS2 engine BL-2 PS2 3volt board 20-2686-1 I was told up front there was no sound. When I got home its true no sound. After factory reset still no sound. I checked the speaker shows 3 ohms so that's good. I pulled the body off all looks good there. BCR installed. It only shows 16.59 on the DOD and 5 hours on the DCH. It runs good and the smoke is good as well. Is there anything I can do short of replacing the board. I also came across a I3A TIU with the remote it has 4.1 software (that's old) soon to have 6.1 but it works I will keep this as a spare.

If it has all functions, but no sound, 90% of the time replacing the audio amp will fix it. But, you need to find out why it failed. Motor leads or smoke unit grounded, pinched wires, etc. It’s a $5 part, but about 1/4 the size of your finger nail with thread-sized legs on each side. Find a tech that will replace it for you..

Look very closely at the audio amp on the bottom, it's U5. Many times you can see a bubble of heat damage on them, if the speaker gets shorted to the frame, they draw excessive current.
