I was wondering if anybody goes to York and helps the ones that can't go... to find items that are hard to find?  I'm looking for a Santa Fe PWC  superchief  Observation car   only..  should be a #25445..

I understand the worry of someone backing out .. but maybe someone does this with a plan that works for both parties.. buyer and seller..

I'm thinking  once their and item is found  the  person could call  the one that wants it and pay for it by Credit card to the vendor that has it...over the phone and help .. (maybe)?

I never had someone ask me to do that. The ones I know go to York too but if they ask me to be on the lookout for something I do that. If by chance someone asked me to buy for them I would want to make sure that if I could not contact them while at York that they would still want that item. Also they would have to give me a maximum price they want to pay for the item and what condition would be acceptable to them. I have been a member of the TCA since 1989 and that has never hapened to me.......Paul 2

Re the scenario in the first post, most non-dealer members don't take credit cards.  From the seller's viewpoint, I wouldn't want to get in the middle of something like that anyway.  (A few folks in blue/silver do; why are they not required to be in the dealer halls?)

I've picked up new items for friends that I trust.  Doubt that I'd do it for a used item, as condition is highly subjective, and I wouldn't want to be blamed for not noticing a defect on something.
