Many S layouts use American Models track with great success.  Carl's layout is AM, as Brooks Stover's Buffalo Creek and Gauley.  Nice thing about AM turnouts is the diverging radius is 27".  Makes for a better look for longer motive power and rolling stock.  Ron has included instructions for modification for scale wheelsets also.

A complete line of sectional and flexible track.

With all due respect, the AM track line is hardly what I would call complete.

Compared to all the other manufacturers out there it is the most complete currently.

The one area that they all seem reluctant to expand upon are greater choice of turnouts. S helper as was produced the same radii as Flyer and AM has a 27" version. Perhaps MTH may improve on this, we'll have to see.
