Hi,
Are the LIONEL Green STATE CARS of the 1931 “THE 20th CENTURY LIMITED” hauled by the LIONEL 400E
of the same length, height and width as the LIONEL Green " SHOWROOM " Cars ?
Thank you,
Norman

I know the showroom cars are much larger.
I own state cars but not showroom cars.
Showroom cars were made for the brute to pull.
The MTH catalog database should have your answers.
State Cars are about 22" long whereas the Showroom Cars are about 30" long.
Not being very knowledgeable, were there actual Lionel Prototypes for the Showroom cars or were they an MTH invention to go with the Brute and Super 381? I know there were prototypes for the Brute and Super 381.
Hi,
Dan, thank you for the images.
The Showroom car is massive !
I am considering hauling a String of State Cars by using a 1/29 Scale Hudson.
The State Cars are beautiful.
I am disappointed as to the Tinplate " HUDSON " locomotives that are available.
Would anyone know the scale of the Tinplate State Cars ?
Could anyone give me the the Body End Width and the Body Side Height of the State Cars ?
G Gauge Track is 1 3/4" wide. Standard Gauge Track is 2 1/8" wide.
I could install insulated wheels regauged to 1 3/4" wide from 2 1/8" wide to run the State Cars on G Gauge Track.
I discovered MTH Tinplate way too late.
MTH had made some beautiful items.

The State cars body end width is 4".
The body side height is 4-3/4".
Total car height above rails is about 6".

Excellent question for which I would love to read an answer as I own an all black LCCA Brute with matching all black Showroom cars.
