Atlanta Area shops

I don't know about recently, but there used to be a couple of hobby shops in the downtown Atlanta area, I think off of I-285.

Legacy station not close to air port

Trainz  Not close either

Legacy Station is by far the best.  Sizable selection of MTH and Lionel products.  Good group of helpful and knowledgeable folks.

There is a shop in Riverdale that is not to far from the airport for HO and smaller.

There are a couple of other shops that have some O gauge trains  But,  for my money,

make the trip to Lawrenceville and go to Legacy Station. There may be a better train

store somewhere but not in Georgia. Brian and the crew have been the best.

Legacy Station is about the only place near Atlanta with any kind of selection. I have never been to trainz but I hear their store is tiny and they have strange hours. I worked at legacy after high school up to 2004 and still do some work for them on the side. The store is 30-45 minutes northwest of the airport, depending on traffic downtown. just take 85 north to GA 316 east and you're there.

Memory Station in Watkinsville. Don't know about the airport issue.

Watkinsville, GA is 80 miles, 1.5 hr drive from the Atlanta airport

Legacystation is going to be your best bet for O gauge.  They have new MTH, Lionel engines and rolllng stock, Atlas O rolling stock, accessories, and some postwar stuff as well.  it's a little bit of a drive from the airport up I-85 North into Lawerenceville, but if you time it right and avoid peak traffic hours, it should not be that bad.

I thought Lawrence is north east of Atlanta so wouldn't Legacy Station be north EAST of the airport?

Yes, it's North East of the airport.  As stated before, take I85 North (which goes North East) and then take GA316 East.  Google it and get directions or plug it into you GPS.

You are correct, it is northeast of town. Sorry, got too much sun at the pool!
