I received my Middle Division Set today. Being born and raised in Mt Union Pennsylvania, it has lots of significance to me!  Despite my excitement, I was highly disappointed to find the engine shell was completely detached from the chassis. The screws were just sitting in the box. The front scale coupler was also detached and just laying in the box. Other screws throughout the engine and tender were almost completely loose. Thankfully I was able to put everything together. If I would’ve picked up the engine completely and the shell separate from the chassis, falling to the floor, I would’ve been even more upset.

But for a $1999.99 MSRP I shouldn’t have to deal with these issues. I don’t think that many screws could come loose in shipping….

Anyone else run into this?

Thanks for sharing your experience Alex!  I grew up in Penna too and go back to railfan the Middle Division every handful of years.  I love the idea of these prototypical sets.  Lionel's quality control is a different story.  Honestly, most of us know how to solder and use a screwdriver.  We even know how to plug in Molex connectors.  If they can't build 'em right, give us a discount and sell them as kits!!
