It has been many years since Atlas produced a new boxcar for the 0 market and I think the NSC 50' plugdoor boxcar would be a worthy addition to their lineup if done in the Masterline series. I don't need any more re-issued repaints.

I have emailed them asking that it is given consideration, if others feel the same then maybe they are also inclined to contact Atlas about potential production. I understand that CV-19 and geopolitics are likely in the short - medium term to hamper this.

The model has been in the HO lineup for many years:

I would prefer that this posting does not degenerate into another: what if they made this: or I always wanted one of those: or why can't production come back to the USA.

If you feel compelled to post about these matters then please create your own post.

Thanks, Nick

Nick, there is no doubt we need a greater variety of modern boxcars.  This would certainly be a good choice.  I do like Bill Yancey's ModernEraOScale products, obviously more pricey, but higher quality, more details and they do require assembly, painting, decals.

Hi Mike, yes I'm collecting Mr Yanceys kits over here, apart from the Soo ones. Thats why I didn't suggest Atlas attempt the FMC cars which also feature in the HO lineup. The other boxcar should of course be the PS 5344.  I did get  a reply which indicated that my request would be forwarded to their R & D Dept, but if they don't get further requests I doubt it will get progressed.

regards,

Nick
