I have a Lionel FT engine I am wanting to convert to TMCC w/RS. There are electronics from a Atlas F3 engine available for sale. However, the instructions and wiring schematic are not available. Has anyone tried to do this swap? I am not familiar with Atlas engines so I'm not even sure this is a viable option. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. This is the description of the electronics: TRAIN AMERICA STUDIO ELECTRONICS MOTHERBOARD AND LIONEL TMCC RS & R2CL BOARDS FROM ATLAS 1604-1 F2/3

Its my understanding that its more cost effective to add ERR TMCC/Railsounds rather then swap parts from another unit.
It's possible to swap the TAS electronics, I would caution you that it may be more difficult than you think by the time you get all done.
You can actually check the TMCC/LEGACY REFERENCE MATERIALS & MANUALS thread for the TAS documentation for the board set you are speaking of.

It depends on the cost of TAS stuff. Its certainly much easier to install ERR than it is TAS and the newest ERR boards outperform TAS both in motor control and railsounds. OTOH if you are doing the work and have the parts in hand from another engine then the only cost is your time.

Thanks you all for all your input, especially gunrunnerjohn's links After further review...I think I'm going to trash the Atlas swap and go with the ERR stuff. Thanks again...
I'm sure you'll be a lot happier with the result.
ERR will be easier. Always go with the latest electronics and you will not go wrong.
