In general, swapping the motors and electronics from the B into the A unit frame is what you want to do. In this way you still have complete dummy B unit after the swap. The A shell will not fit properly on a B frame.

Why will the A shell not fit on the frame sans a wiring connection for a headlight?
The 'dummy' B unit would be discarded/sold since that's not my road of desire.
The frame of the B is rectangular whereas the A has a rounded front end. The front of the A shell would not cover the square corners of the B frame, even if the attaching bosses and screw holes aligned.
