I'm trying to find out the year of production, and original MSRP, for the subject locomotive.  Its Atlas O item number is 1158-1, and its cab number is 2678F.  I have tried the archive.atlasrr.com site, but didn't find this locomotive listed.  I will greatly appreciate any information on this loco, or any information regarding a different way to look up the information.  Thanks.

The  (-1) indicates first run.  I have a couple of SD 35's (Atlas), on the fuel tank, 2000, I assume year made.  Some of my SW models are dated 1999.  Modern Atlas O scale probably no earlier than 1999.

Does the dash number signifyfirst run?

Or does it mean a certain road number where if they produced 4 engines there would be a -1, -2, -3, and a -4?

Tom;

The 1158-1 was released in 2003.  I think MSRP was $199.95 and I paid $180.00 for the locomotive.

Hi Neal,

I just received the un-powered Atlas O SR GP-35 that you had replied to my earlier inquiry about the release date.  I now have another question.  Did yours have electro couplers and, if it did, how did they function (since the locomotive is un-powered)?  I bought it from an eBay seller who also has a brick and mortar train store in PA.  I'm beginning to believe someone had begun an attempt at powering the unit and may have run into a roadblock (parts availability).  There are some other "issues" with it that I'm not sure if the seller did, or did not, know about (and I probably couldn't prove, either way).  I can work around non-functioning electro couplers (just keep them closed), but the side plate mounting tabs on one side of the rear truck are broken through the screw hole.  I can repair the truck, but would rather replace it if I can find a parts source.  That particular part (gearbox, part # 140501) is not shown as available on the Atlas website.  Do you know of another source of Atlas O locomotive parts?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Best regards,

Best regards,

All of Atlas O non powered have the coil couplers installed, but not wired.

I have not found a source for a truck for these as well, and this is also a common failure...seems worse on the engines with the alco trade in trucks.

I appreciate the responses from everyone regarding the unpowered Atlas O GP-35.  After further exploration of the Atlas website, I discovered that the truck gearbox (the part with the side plate mounting tabs) is still available and less expensive than I had expected.  I was able to find the exploded diagram, with part numbers, and then search the part number.  While some of the parts are no longer available, fortunately the parts I needed are.  Thanks, again, guys.
