Atlas O turntable drive belt

On another note, if there is anyone out there who has an extra drive belt I am willing to pay for it (along with expedited shipping). Really need one quickly!

Mike, can't help with a specific part number but the best material for O rings used as drive belts is EPDM. Measure your o ring and google EPDM O rings. Lots of sources for these. Neoprene is a poor choice.

And when you resolve the belt issue, do a search for an upgrade post. A member made a direct drive that eliminates the belt.

If you need a quick fix, I used the "o" ring method as well.  I just grabbed one that looked close from my junk box.  Mine has been working for the last 3 years.  O rings a cheap.  You can buy them at HD or Lowes in a pack that would last you a lifetime.

I got an O ring at Ace Hardware and it works better and lasts much longer than the original. It's a Danko O ring, stock number 35747B # 33 O ring 1 1/16 x 15/16 x 1/16.

I spent about $25 on a gear drive and motor that really works well and no worry about rubber band or O rings. If you reference Atlas turntable in the search heading you can find the original article.

If Atlas is reading this here's a suggestion...leave the belt off (and in a bag with the spare)  when you package the TT.  The belt that came on mine was misshapen, the spare was fine.

No telling how long my TT sat on a shelf in a warehouse or LHS, over time it appears the belt deteriorates.

A direct drive seems like a better design, but is it noisier?  My new clothes washer (GE) is belt driven and it just doesn't sound like washers of old.  Sure gets the clothes clean though!

   They lost the molds in China. That is why they not plan to reissue it.

Sounds like a project for Menard's if you ask me.

I have the Atlas TT.  I like it.  But, some upgrades would make it better.

Atlas parts dept.  has the little belts in stock.

The noise from the drive is about the same. The only difference is that there is no more belt slip.
