Hi all,

anyone know of a reliable replacement belt for the Atlas O turntable motor drive mechanism?

the original belt was severely overstretched, leaving me with an inoperative turntable.

I fear using an Atlas replacement belt will yield the same results down the road.

Any ideas or successes anyone else has had would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

Merry Christmas!

Mike

If Atlas is reading this here's a suggestion...leave the belt off (and in a bag with the spare)  when you package the TT.  The belt that came on mine was misshapen, the spare was fine.

No telling how long my TT sat on a shelf in a warehouse or LHS, over time it appears the belt deteriorates.

A direct drive seems like a better design, but is it noisier?  My new clothes washer (GE) is belt driven and it just doesn't sound like washers of old.  Sure gets the clothes clean though!

Last I heard, the turntable was dropped from the catalog with no plans to reissue it.

Joe,

They lost the molds in China. That is why they not plan to reissue it.

The noise from the drive is about the same. The only difference is that there is no more belt slip.

Mike,

I got an O ring at Ace Hardware and it works better and lasts much longer than the original. It's a Danko O ring, stock number 35747B # 33 O ring 1 1/16 x 15/16 x 1/16.

Hope this helps.

Two month old thread I know but for anyone looking for the O ring replacement like I was, here's a link to the Danco on Amazon.
