Atlas Trainman is scale, Industrial Rail is more a 0/27 size. The Trainman passenger cars are very nice and have a fair amount of detail very good value for the money.
A beauty to look on but very delicate and pricey at retail. I have a few ABS and one Die Cast port of Baltimore hopper (Hunting the other three)
That said Sean Marchev said it best in fewer words than I can with the rest of Atlas Offerings.
I do have a few Lionel gons and boxcars too. The lack of or differences in the detailing between the cars in a train don't really concern me. I run em, not showboat them.
Is the Atlas Trainman line the same size as Atlas Industrial Rail line? Or... Atlas Trainman line a full size 1/48 scale?
Can't find any passenger cars on the Atlas web site other than the Industrial Rail line.
Thanks for any info/clarification.
Atlas just came out with some new cars(California Zephyr I think). George Brown did a review in OGR magazine. Atlas has never done anything half @ssed when it comes to their detailed stuff. Often they're pricey for plastic cars but full of detail. I have a bunch of Atlas rolling stock and a couple engines . I've been an Atlas customer since 1969 and several engines I have from that time still run very well. I hope they step up their passenger car line. I really like the adjustable draw bar on the passenger cars so the diaphragms will touch. There's nothing more tacky that a 1/4 inch gap between cars that have diaphragms .
