Does anybody use these?

6055[1]

I got some wood tie versions of these when I bought some used track.  The are for use on the cut ends of flex track.  I expect that they are meant to hold the rails in gauge when joining to another section of track.  I've never seen any instructions.  I expect that Atlas is moving away from them.

Can anyone provide more info?

Well, I got some somewhere.  I just assumed they were meant to be used as I did.  I fit them to the ends of pieces of Atlas track I would cut to fit.  Say I had a 40" straight section that I needed to shorten to a 28 inch piece.  I would cut the piece, then cut and remove two ties off the end where I had made the cut, then fit one of these on the end.  That gave me a 28-inch  straight with tie clips on each end - almost as good as factory made.  I would/could use the other end part of the duo on the remaining 12 inches to make that into a piece that would fit and clasp tightly, too.  I bought about half a dozen or so once upon a time and do not recall seeing them since, but then I have not looked again, either.
