Atlas Truss Bridge.

Hey John. Here are some suggestions from me. I glued everything together firmly. Plus.....instead of using the plastic pins that Atlas provides to hold the trusses to the girder sections, I used 3mm nylon bolts, washers and screws to "bolt" everything together. My bridge is certainly bullet proof. 

My opinion....I built my bridge to be strong but stationary. Mine is only single track. I do not think the Atlas bridge will be able to withstand 100's of moves / lifts / etc. I would maybe try to connect it to a solid base. This is just my opinion.

See Runner and Guest Access Bridges at the top of the page for a lift up Atlas "people" bridge.  It doesn't need a plywood base and it has air springs for lift and lowering bridge.

Thank you all for the great information, beyond helpful! Susan, brilliant idea for using the air springs for the raising and lowering of the bridge. Can you tell me where you purchased them?

I am not impressed with the durability of the Atlas bridges.  They are beautiful from a distance but very fragile to R & R frequently.  I always fabricate a plywood tray for the many Atlas Truss bridges I have installed:
