Merry Christmas All,
Does this turntable stop at every stop like indexing or do you have to stop it yourself to load or unload an engine?
Also what is the biggest engine it can handle, all mine are MTH premier?
Thank you

I am just making a guess as I don't have one.
I'd say you have to stop it yourself - simply due to the price, there is no money there for an indexing system.
Also it is a belt drive direct from a motor, that is harder to stop accurately unless you slow down as it gets close.
The turntable diameter is 24 inches. Most premier deisels will fit, premier Steam(unless it's smaller than an 0-8-0) won't. If memory serves, it does index at each position. It's just like their HO & N scale TT's, just bigger. Also, it really needs a FLAT surface, or it will not work properly.
You could always just check the Atlas website.
It is indexed but it's very small at only 24"....just measure your engines.

Does this turntable stop at every stop? Yes for a few seconds and then carries on to the next stop. Cut power if you want it to stay at that stop.... It's very accurate.
Measure your engines over the wheel centers and not between the front and rear.

It stops at every specific location on the turntable, and then after a few seconds it starts again and moves to the next location. Atlas has it designed to stop at the exact locations of each of its roundhouse slots, so alignment is no problem.
As to length, the turntable track is 24" and there is an additional inch on the frame of the turntable so the floor space for the turntable is 26". The 24" turntable will handle most 4-6-4's, most 2-8-2's and some 2-8-4's. I had not found a 4-8-4 that would fit on the turntable, so I have replaced my Atlas with a 26" turntable, especially made for my layout.
The drive mechanism for Atlas is slow and "jerky" because it stops at every location, but it is very accurate. The one thing that I find difficult with my new turntable is that I can't stop accurately at every "whisker track" around the circumference because my eyesight isn't what it once was. For this matter the Atlas turntable was excellent.

Ok thanks to all who answered my question.
Merry Christmas.
