Been waiting for these and see that the three B&O versions and the one PRR have arrived. They were rumored to be in the latest shipment from Atlas.
I don't have much Atlas rolling stock at all but as a B&O enthusiast these wagon tops were a must have for me.
Will pick mine up next week!

After looking at the Atlas site, I now see the MSRP was/is $77.95, sooooooo in my opinion a "sweet price" should be well into the $60 range.
Realistically 15% on Atlas seems to be about best price usually on preorders, Lionel and MTH seem to be available at better preorder discounting probably due to much larger product runs. JMO

Well, I paid less than $60 and that wasn't a pre-order.

I will wait for the 2017 Vol II Lionel PRR round tops to come out.
My dealer told me all future Lionel trucks will be, at least, partially plastic. Puts me out. I'm not going to add 1 penny for trucks.
John (Rattler21), that is a prototype scheme, B&O Class C-16 express boxcar. Some of them were painted B&O royal blue as well.
First off, I know nothing about the B&O. However, I'm looking for a B&O wagon top for my late 1940's era layout. Is the B&O REA car shown in John (Rattler21) post above, as well as the car below, have the correct paint schemes for my era? I cannot read the built by/rebuilt by dates. Thanks.
Got mine today from Mr Muffins, haven't taken it out of the box yet, but love it!

The express cars were in captive service on the B&O and were never/rarely interchanged with other railroads. The scheme above was introduced in 1955. The Atlas car with the original 1937 lettering scheme is shown below. I'm not sure the red color is correct for that era, however. Maybe it should be brown.

Years ago when Weaver first announced their wagon top box car there was extensive dialog on the forum about the the time frame for the various schemes. I do know that the large letter B&O is later than my layouts 1952 time frame.
Not sure where I got the attached B&O Wagon Top Boxcar Paint Scheme list, but its very handy
