Automobiles/ Trucks 1/43-1/50 scale let’s see them

Mrs. 'Ski had $20 in Kohl's cash and a 30% coupon and dragged me there today.

I'm glad that she did - she could not find anything that she wanted so she gave them to me.

I picked up this Hallmark Keepsake 1966 Dodge A-100 truck  (looks to be 1:50). The price was $19.95, so I got it for free.

John, you've started a run on Hallmark keepsake vehicles! LoL Thanks for posting that, I ran out and grabbed the Dodge A-100, and next to it at the Hallmark store (no Kohls near me) there was a 1971 Pontiac GTO (Goat) Judge. I had a 1971 custom ordered GTO, except it was Gold in color, and loved that car! (GTO = Gas, Tires, and Oil by the way). I'm going to have to do something about that hook in the roof of the Goat! Same price at Hallmark store as Kohls.

I saw the Goat and the fire truck.  I thought they were all a little small but thought I could make the A-100 work because it's a quirky vehicle but passed on the GTO.

When I first saw this Airstream at Kohl’s, I knew it would work at my little park/campground. It’s small, but fits in well. The awning retracts into the side. I snipped the hanger ring off flush with wire cutters.

The A-100 ornament may look small, but I'm not too sure about that.

If I remember correctly, this was a small vehicle with only 13 inch wheels

Artie, great scene...I need to find an "awning" for mine in the lower right corner...

@Amfleet25124... we’ve got to really up our collections. Here is a pic of the NY Transit Museum’s bus collection. FYI - the third from the right is the one I’d love to find in 1/43 - that’s one of the buses I first rode in the early 60’s.

Paul, seems you and I have similar tastes in cars and service stations! In the following photo is a 60 ragtop Chevy Corvette and at the pumps is a 1971 Pontiac GTO Judge at Ethyl's Gas Station. Guy on the floor under the Vette seems to be doing a little TIG/MIG or Arc welding.

Note: Yes that is a hook on the roof of the Goat, it's a Hallmark Keepsake ornament.

western...realistic scene!  Can't go wrong with the '50s, '60s, and early '70s GM cars!  The Vette and GTO remain on my list of favorites  Seeing your welder reminds me that I need to install my blue-flame guy.  Great addition to any layout.  It's just that I have such a disdain for wiring these days that I put as much off it off as possible, just as long as the trains are able to run on schedule...

I have a couple of vintage Corgis that some kid enthusiastically repainted with what looks to be a silver enamel paint. Is there a method for removing the topcoat while leaving the original paint intact?

Hi guys, been off line for a couple day now and just getting up to speed, I have to say you all have outstanding collections of cars and trucks! Maybe one day I too will have a Vett! LOL

Mike, the 1/43 scale Vettes are much cheaper than the real ones these days...lol

Try finger nail polish remover.  It has worked pretty well for me on a lot of projects.  You might also find old fashioned brake fluid.  It usually works.

Hi...know everyone is gearing up for their Christmas layout or scenes under the tree.  Found this today at "Michaels" @ 40% off its regular price which amounted to $20.  Its a "LEMAX" product and I really think it will dress up my Christmas scene.

Paul, that’s a classic shot with the ‘58 Olds wagon.

Great find, Don. It looks to be close to scale.

I’ve been trying some shots with my phone on the layout itself to get a “ground” level view. Here’s a couple of Sunoco trucks down at the derrick, and a Peterbilt next to my gantry crane. The Peterbilt is a pretty good model, seeing as I’ve had it from when my daughter was small in the 80’s. It came in a Lionel Trains and Trucking starter outfit. I’ve repainted it.

Another shot, more in line with what I had in mind.

Artie...enjoy seeing your industrial scenery, and there's nothing that beats Sunoco blue and yellow...nice work!

Between the Friday Xmas shoppers and the tree buyers, things are active by the N. Main Street station as the "Chief" pulls in...

Great pic Paul almost reminds me of the Movie “Christmas Story” early 1960s  is that little Ralphie in the red suit holding the bag and Big Ralphie at the back of the car  lol. Thanks for sharing

Scott. I like that pic especially the 50s couple with the headlights on is it a Chevy or a Olds?

Latest acquisitions.The Chevy flatbed and The Mystery Machine are JADA Toys from Walmart and then Dodge is Hallmark.  The Chevy is listed as 1:35 but I thought it looked good for a large truck.  The bed is a little short so I may look into converting it a rack body or a box truck.  If I go that route I'll try to de-hot rod it some.  I'll compare it to the ERTL versions I have to see if it fits. The Mystery Machine is way big but the plan is to try and fitit on a SuperStreets chassis.  We'll see if hat ever comes to fruition.  The Dodge is a little small but when I saw posted I just had to have one.

Coach, Ya, Scooby Doo the Mystery Machine, gotta love it. Is it going on your layout somewhere. I love the whimsical touches model railroaders put in the scenes!! The dark green truck looks fresh out of Ekstensive Metal Works on Motor Trends Texas Metal! That Mopar A-100 looks familiar, I have one of those too! :-) Thanks for sharing them.

Scott, The Mystery Machine is planned on going SuperStreets.  If that works it'll definitely be one the layout.  If it won't fit a SuperStreets chassis it'll probably wind up on a display shelf. 

Paul, The Mystery Machine is so oversized because of the Scooby Snacks inside.
