Where are the guidelines for avatars?

When I click other OGR member avatars, they are clear and crisp.  Mine is so fussy and blurry you can't tell it was me.  I would be glad to post a new me but if it looks as bad as the present one whats the point.  I realize it has to be the face and can't have too much backgound.  Do I have to take it in very high  (RAW or jpeg) resolution then shrink it down and hope the picture stays viewable?

If you post a new Avatar, make it 300 x 300 pixels. The reason yours is so fuzzy is because it was carried over from the original OGR Forum program where they were only 50 x 50 pixels.

If you are not comfortable doing that yourself, email me the file and I'll take care of it for you.

Thanks Rich. That explains why (50 vs 300 pixels). I can "smash" picture to any pixel count I want, so will work on it to day and repost me again.

OK and done.  Now everyone see my beautiful face and compare it with wanted posters at the post office!!  Hope forum stays running after my avatar replacement.

Hello Rich, on the subject of Avatars, why are we encouraging more members to submit one?  I thought this was one of the requirements to be a part of this forum?

The requirement is if you choose  to have an avatar it must be a recognizable one of yourself.  There is no requirement to have an avatar to participate in the forum.
