I wish I had known about this sooner, so I could have made arrangements to go. I don't get over to Mesa that often and haven't checked their website for quite awhile. I also didn't know they have a FB page, so thanks for the heads-up, maybe next time. I did check Google Maps and see the location in the Maricopa Mountains they're talking about, so I can maybe take my own excursion later and visit Organ Pipe in the process. Maybe you'll post some photos?

No problem, I still wouldn't have been able to go had you posted earlier in the week. We have too much scheduled that needs to get done before our next trip in a few weeks, so it's just bad timing. I did Like their FB page, so I'll be in the loop in the future. I hope you have a great experience. I'm curious though about the need for a police scanner? I've always wanted to take more time between Tucson and El Paso along I-10 because we see all kinds of trains on our way to Florida and Georgia. I suppose Lordsburg or Deming might be good places to hang for awhile. Anyway, enjoy the day, it should be nice and sunny.

It was nice and sunny, I got burned on the back of my hands and tip of my nose.  Guess I need a wider brim hat.  As for the scanner, it is so you can hear the UP radio talk.  Most police scanners are wide band receive, so they'd get the UP stuff too.  I'm having computer issues at home, but I'll try to get some of the photos posted.
