My layout backdrops are from Backdrop Warehouse and I love them. I'm not sure why Gilly@N&W would say to avoid him. He makes great backdrops and I've been extremely happy with them. I've also always found the guy who runs the company to be very nice. Never had any problems whatsoever.
I can only guess that maybe Gilly@N&W doesn't like the prices. His backdrops are not cheap, that's true. But, in my opinion, you get what you pay for and his backdrops are the BEST...again, in my opinion.

Here's the thread on backdrops;
Thanks guys, this is great, in less that 15 minutes I have the answer, this Forum is awesome.
Several years ago I called asking for assistance in placing an order. I had a couple $K set aside, so money was no issue. He bluntly told me to order from his website. I told him I couldn't find pricing for what I was wanting to buy. After being told that I was too stupid to figure out his website, he hung up on me. His website remains one of the absolute worst I have ever seen. Rude does not begin to describe his customer presence. He does seem to be quite sensitive about his website.
I have heard of, and do complement anyone who has been successful in ordering from him. From what I can tell, the backdrops are beautiful and I still would like to have had one on my layout. At one point, I offered cash to anyone on the OGR forum willing to make a straw purchase from him on my behalf. There were no takers. I have checked back on his website from time to time. It appears as convoluted as ever.
I have to say his website is one of the most difficult to navigate and I'm of reasonable intelligence.
I installed 9 of the Backdrop Warehouse backdrops. I love them, they made my down under room look much bigger. Here is a how to that I wrote up.
Yes, it's true, his website does stink. But his backdrops are spectacular.
