I have a friend who married one of the grand daughters of the Brown Tugboat, founder.

Brown tugs were one of many N.Y. Harbor tugs, which towed, amongst other products, railroad car floats.

Brown is home ported on Staten Island.

Very nice!! My great grandfather had one job in his life and it was on the B&O. I do not have a lot of B&O equipment but always on the look out!

RK – no LMK feature. Premier details not really needed as I just needed the diesel for more power in the lash-up.

It has lighted number boards, cab lights and twin smoke each turned on or off using the remote.

There’s no difference in size between RK & Premier GP 7/9’s.

Grab irons are molded on RK’s but really not seen mixed in a lash-up as with those large couplers.

Railings were not painted safety yellow on the old 65 sunburst scheme and time frame so I didn't change them.

So all in all, a good extra power unit to assist in long train operation.

Having owned the Premier and ScaleKing GP9s, I can say there is really very little difference between the two and it is ALL details (and the color of the box). As far as I'm concerned, despite selling both, I was far more happy with the performance and looks of the RK version than Premier. Just minor details is the only difference. 

Another SIRT triumph! Would that such a train had ever rolled past DeJonges and screamed up Grasmere Hill.  I will never forget the first time I saw your Youtube of the "Long Freight" and your faithful representation of DeJonges and Tompkins Ave... I did a double take and started looking for the salt pile on the other side of the main, then caught myself - I was completely taken in.  Thank you.

Great job Steve. I noted that you painted the upper fittings of the hoses. Nice touch. I cannot see if they are all colored. Was this your color selection or is there a guideline for what gets colors? Thanks.

Looked at some B&O photo books, however most only had 3 hoses per side.

All this Best and Only Geeping is getting me wired big time!  IF there ever was a locomotive and railroad meant for each other...it was B&O and the first generation GEEP !   Huzzah !

Great job on the weathering.  I like that the windows are open and the engineer has his arm out of the window...that is pretty cool.  I have all Lionel Geeps and all the engineers look the same in the same boring pose.  The same is true for all my steam engines too.  It looks like MTH has a bit more variety in terms of the figures in the cabs.  Anyway great engine and weathering!  thanks for sharing

The "color coded" hoses are for main reservoir sharing (1), operation of the "independent" air brakes which apply and release engine brakes throughout the locomotive consist only (1 or 2), and sand (1). Modern engines normally have only three hoses, the sand now being handled electronically. The color coding is provided to ensure that hoses are matched correctly by employees when coupling.  Duplicate hoses are provided on each side of each engine as a backup and also for use in the event of operation on a sharp curve that would part hoses located on the side of the consist that is on the outside of the curve.

I made the open cab window suggestion as I was working with MTH on the SIRT S2 ALCO but it didn't get implemented until now.

I generally repaint the cab crew as they are all the same colors on every model.

Does anyone know of an available SIRT S2?  I only learned of their existence from SIRT's Youtube videos and, after picking myself up off the floor, searched the web to no avail - I've even got a standing search at ebay but no hits.

This "ex-RR worker" is getting rustier by the minute and looks it, no weathering required.
