Well it sometimes helps to go back and re-read these threads. Sometimes a lightbulb💡 get switched on. This time - my Nat Ltd book combined with posting from “S. Islander” turned on the bulb.
GGD / Scott is offering “Bird” 16-4 sleepers (as extras) in the Capital Ltd offering. 😮🫣😜👍🙌.
Yay. These for sure ran on the Nat. My Nat. Ltd. Will Grow by one more car !!!!!! 😜
Cheers 😉

If anyone is interested …….
GGD webpage shows B&O Slumber Coach’s still available / two 2rail, three 3rail / dated 12-15-23. Email Scott for Cap and Nat car (name) availability.
Cheers 😉
Well the Slumbercoach that ran on the National arrived. My do it yourself Nat Ltd consist grows one car at a time. This car continued southwest out of St. Louis Union Station on the MP Texas Eagle. So glad to have this addition.
I show here with a correctly numbered 3rd Rail EA that pulled the Nat Ltd into St Louis Union Staion.
Cheers 😉
Pleased to see those sheet metal pieces that hid the horns from the side. Even B&O Museum left them off their EA cosmetic restoration. I never noticed any rivets on the stainless steel nose trim piece in prototype photos. Maybe I need to look harder.
I looked at some photos of the B&O EA (No. 51); they show that the stainless steel trim is secured with rivets or possibly round-head bolts that are smaller than those represented on the model and spaced further apart.
That the rivets are there is appreciated / good !!!! However, from where I usually observe the engine, I can’t see those minute details anyway - even when I have my glasses on. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Another detail on the model unique to the EA is the classification light on the windshield post.
FYI ….. GGD SlumberCoachs were delivered in December. There are 2 2Rail and 3 3Rail B&O cars that are still available as of March 5. I believe Scott did all 5 names - 2 for the Capital Ltd and 3 for the National Ltd. Email him to see which named cars remain for purchase.
Cheers 😉
Well, the GGD B&O Cap Ltd reservations are closing. That means the 16-4 I reserved to use in my do-it-yourself National Ltd consist should be on its way to me this fall.
One car at a time eventually gets the consist built. 😬😜
Cheers 😉
Looks good. I just received my slumber coach this week. First 21" car, so I discovered some scenery in the way. Had the guys with pickaxes go clear the obstacle (dremel) and now it looks good going around the layout. I'm not being accurate though, its mixed in with the Lionel Columbian cars.
It’s fun building your own consist - seeing it come together. My key was the beautiful EA diesel (to keep it simple I did not use the EB). Yet to come is a GGD B&O 16-4. My MP Slumbercoach would also be appropriate but B&O OR MP - not both in the consist.
Have fun !!!
The B&O bought 1938/1939 20th Century Limited observation cars from the New York Central in January 1956 for use on the National Limited. Maybe Golden Gate Depot can offer those observation cars for separate sale painted in B&O colors and lettered for the National Limited as part of their announced reissue of the 20th Century Limited? I think there are sleepers and maybe other cars from the 1938 Century that were the same/similar to those on the B&O (and some were sold to NdeM) that maybe could also be offered by GGD in B&O (and NdeM) paint schemes.

I'd be in for any of the above. My NdeM sleeper from the recent Eagle run is super cool -- the Dormitorio!
The fact that 10-5s are on tap for the NYC bodes well for getting them done for other roads that had them. There Will Be other details to check too.
It is Hoped to have 10-5s offered in the Next MP/TP Eagle/Jenks offering. B&O, PRR, and NdeM All Had 10-5s that ran on the Eagle. B&O and PRR were in Eagle paint, NdeM not. Email Scott that you want to see these 10-5s (and reserve/purchase) !!!!!!
These cars will be nice additions to these roads 10-6s offered in the Eagle run 1. Cheers 😉
Here is a link to a website that lists the disposition of New York Central lightweight (streamlined) passenger cars:
https://www.canadasouthern.com...ODELS-PASS-LIGHT.htm
You will see the three streamlined observation cars there that were sold to the B&O for use on the National Limited. If you search for “NdeM” you will get 88 hits! NdeM purchased 88 streamlined passenger cars from the New York Central in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, including nearly the entire 1938-1940 20th Century Limited in the 1950’s! Since that is the train that Golden Gate Depot will be reissuing, we have to get those cars offered in NdeM paint. It looks like NdeM bought the diners, several of the observation cars, and most, if not all, of the various types of sleepers.
Is there an OGR thread on the Golden Gate Depot 20th Century Limited reissue? If so, we should add the B&O observation car information there as well as the NdeM information. If we could just get the 20th Century diner, observation, and a couple of the sleepers in NdeM paint, we would have a pretty much complete train with the GGD NdeM heavyweight coaches that are coming.
Well I for sure won’t say that I’m a “Mr. B&O expert”. I’ve become a bit knowledgeable with the Nat Ltd as it interchanged in St. Louis with the MP Eagle and with the Cap by helping Scott Mann with his Cap Ltd Golden Gate offering. The B&O cars are always quite beautiful and I’ve always admired them.
My modest B&O fleet just got expanded out of the blue. I was offered and couldn’t resist a set I’ve Always Loved - the GGD Cincinnatian. Wow it’s just a knock dead beauty. IMHO of course. (And I think a car or two will see duty in my build-it-yourself Nat - on loan of course).
Heres a few pix. 😜 (All 6 wheel trucks too)
Combine - and check out the name plate on the right
Nice tail end metal signage !!!
Just a Beautiful 5 car set. Perfect for my modest 8x12 layout. 😜
Cheers 😉
TrainBub, now that you have the drop dead gorgeous GGD B&O Cincinnatian cars, are you going to talk to (implore) Scott about a re-run of the 3rd Rail B&O streamlined P7d Pacific to pull them? I have my money out and ready to go. Ignore the naysayers, eyes on the prize!

P7d or e would make me Very Happy. To get that done would be awesome. In my mind, the shrouded model (any) is an easier build with Minimal add on pieces. I’ve tried to get Scott interested in several different steam models - to no avail. It’s become impossible to get needed number of reservations. Smaller #s of reservations drives the price ever higher. The higher price then drives off potential buyers. And it seems there’s just fewer people interested in steam.
Scott is pretty much locked into doing diesels. I got lucky a bit back and got one of the green T&P steam models he did when it was issued. Gorgeous !!! I really wish there were more models coming.
Cheers 😉
PS Reservations are Still Open for the Capital Ltd. It’s going to be a Beauty !!!
The reasonable man conforms to the realities of the world around him.
The unreasonable man expects the world to conform to him.
Therefore new, prototypically accurate 3 rail steam engines might become available due to the advocacy of unreasonable men.

The GGD Cincinnatian cars were painted to match the Weaver brass P7d made in the 1990’s, since many people had that locomotive but no prototypically correct cars. Those Weaver locomotives show up for resale from time to time.
I read this thread with great interest. I am getting my thoughts together for a new layout, and one regret I have on my existing layout is not getting large enough curves. By not having 0-72 or larger it aces you out of a lot of the 3rd rail and GGD product. Most of my layout is 0-54.
These B&O cars are simply breathtaking. In looking at the various websites for the product, the prices don't seem THAT out of line with what the other companies are charging for much more mass produced cars significantly lacking in detail. I will spend more time in looking at what is out there to reserve, and then make a reservation.

If you do a new layout, I hope you can incorporate At Least 072. Tinker with layout planning software to see what might work for you. There was no software Available for my Apple computer so I bought paper scale track diagrams from Ross Track. I traced piece by piece my layout concept and laid it out on the floor to see if it worked. This helped me decide on details and kept me from spending $ on unneeded track. By the way, I found that O96/O72 curved switches Greatly Expanded my modest 8x12 layout functionality. The O96 part nicely contributed to softening the curves too.
Good luck with your endeavors. Going with minimum 072 allowed me to expand my collection and upgrade with beautiful GGD products that are in my collecting area.
Cheers 😉
TrainBub, thank you. This is more of a "when" not an "if" From the drawings I have seen from my layout builder, the layout is a minimum of 0-72, but agree, bigger sweeping curves will be awesome. i am very excited to get this rolling.

Gee. Do you really think there’s 80-100 B&O fans out there to support a P7d offering ??? I don’t know 🤷🤔🤔🤔
To me they’ve seemed kind of low key - missing in action and this Really surprises me. The B&O runs thru many really populous states which I would think would pull many fans to reserve the model. A new model would have updated - superior electronics / guts too. I’d be in for one - adding you makes 2 of us. 😳
Anyone else out there interested ???
Please chime in here and Email Scott and Let Him Know.
Cheers😉
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. 😜
Just a quick FYI …. GGD is showing they still have 2 Slumbercoaches available in 2 rail. If interested, drop Scott an email to see what names are available. All names listed earlier in this thread. I believe Scott did them all. Cars can be converted to 3 rail.
Just a reminder …….
There are B&O 14-4 sleepers offered as “extra” cars in the GGD Texas Special / Meteor offering and have smooth sides and are in B&O paint to match the National, Capital paint. They ran east on the Nat but one can easily imagine they could at some time be seen system wide at sometime.
These will see use on my do-it-yourself Nat and eventually on my Meteor.
The GGD B&O Slumbercoaches are sold out.
FYI - if interested, Scott shows 1 MP slumbercoach on the GGD “available” webpage.
Reminder - these did run east on the National Ltd.
Cheers 😉
Just received a note from Scott to all the Capital Ltd buyers. The Cap is On its way to the container facility. 😜
Just in case - FYI - Scott is still accepting standby reservations for the Cap.
Cheers 😉
We’ve been waiting for this one for a long time! Good things come to those who wait. I’ve got my 3rd Rail B&O E8 AA set ready to pull the Capitol Limited. They are spinning their wheels like the drivers under the tender of a Lionel Triplex in excited anticipation.

It’s nice to see you big B&O fans finally will see the Cap. Ltd arriving soon !!! It’s been a slog to get here - but it’s now almost here !!! It may have been slow, but Scott Rarely !!! Ever Gives Up on an Offering !!!!!
Cheers 😉
FYI and Good News.
Email notice from Scott that the Capital Ltd is arriving early November. Good chance we will see delivery by Thanksgiving !!!! For “fence sitters”, Scott’s still accepting “stand- by” reservations.
Cheers 😉
