I know this has been posted before, but can anyone tell me exactly what I will need to connect the original barrel loader to fastrack as I still have a 3/4 inch gap or so after removing one side of my operating track and cutting off the edge of the 10 inch track next to it. Someone mentioned using a rectangular clip of some kind or is there some other way to connect the two? (the barrel car to the barrel loader so the barrel car dumps the barrels on the barrel loader properly without falling in the gap) If someone can provide me a picture of what this looks like it would be great as I am new to fastrack. Thanks in advance. Dana

It doesn't sound like a fastrack issue. It sounds like you are missing the loading clip that attaches to the bottom end of the loader ramp and takes up the gap between the car and ramp. It a black metal clip. If you just search on you tube for lionel barrel loader there are some videos with pictures of the black clip.
Of the barrel loader. FasTrack prevents me from getting close to the loading platform on the barrel loader.

"Original" as in postwar? It was not really designed for fastracks width or height, so it seems you might have to fabricate a piece to cover the added area. I would suggest finding exploded views of a modern one-VS-PW to see the difference in parts/numbers
Notching the offending track piece may work

The car unloads the barrels into a tray. The loader has a gate that drops down that acts as a ramp to load the barrels.
There is a culvert unloader & culvert loaderaccessory. There is no barrel unloader
I have fastrack with the barrel loader and you do not need to cut or do anything besides take off the one removable side of the fastrack operating track. You are trying to get the loader right up against the car and that is incorrect. As Art shows above in his post you are missing the black metal loading clip that takes up the space between the barrel car and loader. It clips right on the edge of the bottom of the yellow ramp. Whether its the postwar or LLC version of the loader, the clip is the same. You should be able to pick one up online.
I see now. The Gondola was the original and had to be hand loaded. The 3564 barrel car was introduced in 1954 and remade. The ramp clip came with the car to allow unloading onto the barrel loader platform. It was attached to the platform.
the part number is 3562-48. Try Only3rail or Brasseur's.

I installed TMCC on my barrel car, and I just hacked the Fastrack base to get it close enough since I don't need an operating track.
The photos above show the gap I am talking about. Will the metal clip extend out far enough to fill the gap between the barrel car and the barrel loader?
Yes the clip will bridge the gap far enough so the barrel will roll across.
Thanks everyone for your replies. Dana
