I own 2 Junior Berks and a WBB Berk, so the last thing I want to do is buy another 2-8-4 PE engine just to run PE passenger cars.  So, I've got a couple of ideas but each has questions:

1.  Buy a PE tender shell and replace my NKP Junior Berk's tender shell around Christmas time.  My assumption (dangerous) is that it would fit.  I don't really like this idea because this is my only NKP locomotive.  This engine has TMCC.

2.  Buy a PE tender shell AND engine shell and replace my Pennsy Junior Berk's shell most of the time.  I've got other Pennsy locomotives and this one sits most of the time even though it has TMCC.  In fact, I was thinking of selling it.  Problem is, at list, total cost for this option comes close to a new non-TMCC engine.  But, I like this option since it will make better use of a shelf queen IF the PE engine and tender shells would fit.  Any reason to believe they wouldn't?

3.  Just buy a new PE tender (not just shell, the whole tender) and run with my Williams Berk.  Normally, I run this 726 replica with a Pennsy streamlined tender, so I'd be losing one of my Pennsy engines around Christmas, but I'd solve that by pulling the Junior Berk off the shelf.  I'm thinking the tender might be a little small, but doubt anyone would notice.  I like this option best, I think.

Any other better ideas?

If you do your prefered #3 make sure that the tender you buy has railsounds that will operate independently of the loco: i.e,  a Legacy railrounds tender won't etc.  you're paying for the railsounds so get one that operates independently of an loco signal.  I bought one used like that that I re-labled and run with my (originally soundless) Williams Baldwin 10 wheelers.

The separate sale PE Tender (6-36847) is Trainsounds, not Railsounds. It makes a world of difference. I have one and the sounds really aren't that great.

There was a Legacy RailSound SCALE PE Tender (6-11151) offered in 2009. It will likely be expensive and very difficult to find. The size difference may look goofy with a baby Berk.

One thing I have previously asked and would be interested to find out is if the PE Locomotive Shell can be used on a TMCC Baby Berk.

There are set break-up PE whistle tenders on eBay now. That would probably be your easiest solution.

Gilly - I'm going to check with an LHS I've purchased from.  He's offering the PE loco and tender shells on his website.  If they're compatible with a TMCC Junior Berk, I might go that route.  If not, I think you're right about just getting a PE tender with air whistle.
