There will always be one, indeed  Seriously though this has to be the best solution apart from offering an entire separate sale "modernized" pilot. Out of the box you basically get two models in one. It's the same concept as Lionel's Empire State Express Hudson where they included removable side skirts to give the owner a choice of early or late life appearance.

Had to vote for the radiators because my Lionel Legacy BB 4012 and my L-AF 4014 both have them. Voted for the Coke and fries because I'm hungry.

All of the excitment over the new VL BB prompted me to run my Lionel Legacy BB, which is a nifty piece in its own right. I was impressed all over again and one can appreciate why those ordering a newly offered VL version have elevated anticipations. Fortunately, I can sit this one out.

Have fun!

Actually the fined type cooling coils, designed by Westinghouse, were MORE efficient than the Wilson Radiators. However, the Westinghouse fined coils were a LOT more expensive to replace, after the condensation froze inside, than the replacement Wilson radiators.

Keep that up and you'll be somewhat overpaid by the time the thing gets released.

No problem, I guaranty that money will be used up in a few weeks, I got a few more biggies right behind and in front of it. My last shot at it before I retire in less then a year.

noted... the basic point being they all had some radiator (air cooling) system.

Might want to add the pictures so people can see what they are voting on....

Pictures are  worth a thousand words.

I dunno, I find it a rather refreshing break from the otherwise constant recycling of threads about NYC Hudsons and Pennsy GG1s.

I don't believe its refreshing at all.  Now a large cherry coke with fries and blowdown sounds delightful.

Steve, Lady and Tex

Well I think we can call this...

the burger fries and coke lead the pack. 38 votes

with radiators second with 31 votes

don't care third 21 votes

and without only 7

Even if you add in the don't cares to the without, the burgers and with radiators still win.

Interesting poll. Seems like Lionel, at least where the forum is concerned chose wisely.
