I've been in contact with Mr. Muffin - and I hope he doesn't mind that I'm posting this question. What color was the lettering on the all black, Milwaukee Road SW-1;  does anyone know? The Lionel drawings depict "The Milwaukee Road" in a gold color, but I seem to recall that the lettering was either white or silver/aluminum. I looked at the digitized drawings in the Milwaukee Public Library and on the Google, but couldn't find the answer. And, since I'm asking, could you cite your source, please?

Many thanks,

Jim

The Gold lettering, is probably not correct . What photo's exist , show  what could be white or Aluminum colored. as their early Electrics and other pre- war diesel switch engines  , they were painted black Like their steam engines, gold lettering being usually for their passenger fleet.   I was a volunteer 30 plus  years ago when the Library was given the archive from The Milwaukee Road , and the amount of Information was over whelming. You can also try Milwaukee Road Historical Association - Home (mrha.com) . I was going to pre order it, but I wont pay for thei electronics
