Is this normal operation for a Reading Hudson Cab #8004. If so where can I get more of these? If not what causes it to happen in a puffer smoke unit.

I bought this 6-18004 Reading 4-6-2 at a train show last weekend. It was pretty much unrun I think because the coupler on the tender wouldn't lock. I fixed that problem with some super glue and have run it for about three hours over the last few days. Today after filling the smoke unit, I decided to pick up some speed and was pushing it along the track powered by my postwar ZW at about 18v on the AU. This was the result after five minutes. If anyone

It wouldn't be a cool effect if the smoke fluid flared up (I've seen it happen) and ignited the cotton batting or whatever it is you're using for snow on your layout. Definitely time to change out the smoke element.
