I just got a Lionel Legacy Sd40-2 from 2007. While I was programming it, the cab light started blinking and won't stop. It has not been run until today, what does this mean?

How many blinks ? If it has not been run until now. it might be the smoke fan ? turn the smoke off and try it again.

Continuous. The smoke is off.
That engine would be modular boards. The later RCMC board gives the informative blinks. Reprogram the engine and use the proper aux code. What is the engine?
A guy I know has a E7 (6-34508) that has a continuously blinking cab light. What does that mean. FWIW, I have two of the 2007 SD70s from Lionel and they don't blink.
I wish we had an item number.
Marty is right onto the problem. The engine is programmed for a strobe light. Here's the manual.
This is from the manual for the 2007 Lionel SD40-2.

It is Norfolk Southern 3340, item number 6-28257. Thank you John for posting that info, I will test that when I get home. I did have trouble getting it to program at first, and I may have hit a wrong key and accidentally programed it to do that.
Great, that's the one I found in my search, so reprogramming should solve your problem.
