The LCN&J RR just purchased a new Lionel BN SD-70 ACe from Lionel and it arrived today. The # is 1970 ( my birth year). We run our engines conventionaly so I would recomend a 9v alk battery before operation. It seems the horn would not work under 11 volts and it would just shut the engine down. After placing a battery in the engine it ran flawless. We use a MTH z-4000 with Fastrack, the curves are o-36 to o-60. This is our 1st higher end Lionel so I am still getting use to it. I did not have the smoke on sorry about that. The engine arrived in excellant condition, very shiny. Make sure your hands have no oil or lotion on them, the black shows fingerprints. Here is a short video of it starting up, in operation and shutting down. Some photos too. Nick

She's a beaut.
Thanks for posting.
She's a beauty! Looks and sounds great!
Wish I had the proper space for a big, bad modern diesel like that.
Good luck with her.
Good looking unit. Pictures of the Santa Fe and Chicago, Burlington & Quincy BNSF Heritage Units can be found here:

There is a standing request for pictures of the Frisco unit.
It seems that this series is not too popular; at least with folks on the forum.
Thanks for posting, Nick. Looks great! I have that engine on my wish list and your pictures/videos have just reinforced my intent to buy.

Thanks for the comments. The more we run the engine the better I feel about. It do's look better in real life. We compared it to our Railking SD-70 and its about 3 1/2 inches longer then the mth. I think I will look for the Frisco one next.
Here is a little better video, not so shaky. I think we will look for the Frisco engine now.
