I was just wondering if BNSF has any of these painted in the swoosh logo? Thank you in advance for any info.

Hi Bill,
I have not seen any swoosh paint scheme yet. It appears to me that they all have this scheme............... http://www.railpictures.net/vi...d=480784&nseq=62

Bill, I did some research on Google and found out there is one. There's probably more, but it was painted back in 2007. It's BNSF 4479. Here's the link http://www.railpictures.net/vi...id=414259&nseq=0 & http://www.railpictures.net/vi...id=277206&nseq=4 I do know BNSF does mark it AC4400CW, but the real name is C44-9W or Dash 9-44CW. Just thought I would mention. No big deal.
Good Evening,
To my knowledge, the AC4400CW and Dash 9-44CW look similar but are two different models from GE. The AC4400CW is not a Dash 9. http://www.thedieselshop.us/BNSF.HTML

Thanks for posting, that is a nice link and I saved it for reference. And it's up to date as well. The BNSF engine roster book I have is from 2011-2012 and is no longer very accurate. BNSF is the only one I try to keep up with, it's what we have the most of around here and my main road name for my layout.
Only way I can tell one from another on these things is to get close enough to the engine to see the model designation stenciled on the engine itself. Can't tell one from another otherwise, except I can occasionally tell some of the GE's from the EMD's. It amazes me that you folks can keep all this stuff straight, it's just impossible for me.

I totally agree, I have heard Diseasel fans say that Steam locomotives are all black and look alike, but for ME, it is just the opposite, while diesels tend to be more colorful, once you get past the paint, so many of them look so much alike that they are hard to tell apart. The newer they are, it seems the more they look alike, but I guess the auto industry is pretty much the same these days too.

Thank you everyone for the info. To the best of my understanding the AC4400 is technically an AC version of the Dash-9. There are differences in the louvres and vents. Also the large elevtrical box behind the cab on the condustors side. Thanks again everyone for the info. I was just curious about this.

Stepping off the Isle of Denial for a minute, the BNSF diesel that you don't seem to see that often (at least out here in So. Cal.) is the SD70ACe with the Swoosh paint. There are quite a few rostered, but they're a rare sight nonetheless. As much as I like SD70ACe locomotives, I'd be deposed as the self-appointed Information Minister of the Isle of Denial if I were to come into possession of said BNSF Swoosh SD70ACe.
I checked the 2014-2015 BNSF Locomotive Directory and it does not indicate that any AC4400s are painted other than Heritage II at the time of printing.
A good percentage of the locos on the Joint Line are SD70ACe's. All the ones I looked at today are painted with the swoosh.
