I saw a brass PRR bobber caboose at the O scale show in Kirtland OH the other day . It did not have a cupola and i thought i could do that and here it is ! I removed the cupola and roof walks as well as smoke jack, Cut a piece of  015 styreen to fit . A little plastic solvent to glue it on..replace roof walks with a set off a wood atlas boxcar from my junk yard..replace smoke jack ..and lastly move ladders to other side of car to match them with the roof walk. as a side note i wondered why they were on the wrong side to begin with....my first project of the Retirement Years !     very simple for a pretty cool caboose... conrail john    12345 oh and paint the roof !

Conrail John, congrats on your retirement and a great bash on the caboose.  I planned to do the same thing, and it looks like you beat me to it!  This one is to replicate a logging "crummy" I saw at Cass.  This week I finally had the time, and the victim was this MTH Erie bobber:

...which, like yours, had a cupola-ectomy, lettering removed, as well as a shortened smoke jack, and became this:

The Kadees on yours look much better - maybe I'll take the plunge and convert my logging flats.  Still, it looks great at the rear of my logging train.

At a show, l picked up a whole bag of plastic bobbers, now stored...l think they were early Atlas made in Austria?...l kit bashed a few .  There were a lot of brass Lackawanna bobbers in shows once, also, and l put Lionel couplers on one, and painted and relettered it.  A lot of Bob Peare, "Train Craft", bobber kits are found in those shows, and one suffered a bash in my hands.

Hi Everyone,

Great to see some different cabooses on this forum site. There's a lot of talent that went into those Bobber's and just have to say that they look great. Would like to know if any of you fella's that put on scale couplers, still have the original couplers in your possession. I have an MTH Pennsylvania Bobber # 20-91350 that is missing the rear coupler and would like to purchase  one or both couplers so I can complete my project. The caboose will have a new name R.R. on it's side: Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines (PRSL) to go with my 0-6-0, B-6 switcher of the same name. My e-mail address is in my profile. Thanks!
