Bob,  I could not post to your topic for some reason.  The 2 black and the 2 red wires on the 7 pin are connected.  As John mentioned one is for the chassis ground in the tender.

In installations where the tender has a pickup along with the engine, one red can be attached to the tender pickup while the other goes thru the harness to the engine.  Same for the black with chassis ground.

I have seen folks drill a small hole to allow for the marker lights and then use hot glue.  Even some Diesels where the shell has a dimple but no markers, you can drill a hole for the marker.

The lights Rod listed are just bulbs and leds with harness.  The Steam kit comes with them.  The diesel kit has both sets of markers plus the MARS lights available.   G

Thanks George!  I had to go read those posts so I would know what was said (no telling why you couldn't respond on that one, but I've seen other people say similar things when trying to respond to other posts).

I'm to the point where I only have to install the harness in the boiler, then test things out.  Main thing now is deciding which sound file to download.

I did that very thing for my MTH General conversion, it really helps to have pickups spaced farther apart, solved it's problem going through Fastrack O36 switches.

Hi Bob;

Interesting! Your other post is the same one I could not post a reply to yesterday. Must be some weird software thing in the site host system I guess.

Rod,

Must be the hurricane doing weird things to the internet

I've got the install complete except for the tach reader, probably the most important piece to the puzzle.

I need to get headlight/taillight castings as well as a few other things for some other projects from Stevenson Preservation Lines and the tach reader from Chuck Sartor.

I had to position the PS2 assy at an angle to get it to fit in the tender, but it does fit.

There was a capacitor across the motor leads, but the PS2 manual said nothing about taking it off or leaving it on, so when I unsoldered the old wiring I took it off.

I also left the old wiring and plugs on the smoke unit.  The one that was in the engine didn't look anything like the ones in the manual, it was a pretty simple design, no traces to cut.
