Cab-1 power supply

There are two measurements that are critical. The outer barrel and the inner pin diameter. The most common is a 5.5 barrel and a 2.1 or 2.5 mm pin. Either one may prevent inserting the plug.

I believe you need the proper adaptor from Lionel which has 3 prongs. The earth ground is  required  for TMCC.  Any old adaptor is not going to work very well if at all.   Good hunting.

It's the outside barrel of the plug into the base that is connected to the third prong of the plug into the wall outlet thru the wall wart. This is also pin #5 of the DB9 socket on the base which can be used for the purpose.

As CJACK mentions, there is an alternative in a pinch - use a similarly sized 12vac wall wart and run a wire from pin 5 of the Command Base rs-232 port to the ground screw of a nearby grounded metal duplex outlet or household electrical ground until you get the right adapter.

Lionel should have the original units in stock HERE if needed.

Thank you for the link Calvin and thank you to everyone else for their input.  I should have checked the Lionel website but thought that Cab-1 was no longer supported.  My mistake.  This forum comes through for me again.
