I read both manuals, I see where it tells me how to setup the system for a quillable whistle/horn, but I saw nothing that tells me what to do to make it operate (quill) once it's setup. If I simply press the whistle/horn button on the CAB1-L I get the horn to blow (GP9), but the sound stays the same, or close to the same.
Isn't there a slide control on the CAB2 that enables the whistle/horn to be quilled? Do I press the whistle/horn button on the CAB1-L PLUS something else?
The harder you push usthe whistle / horn button it quills. It only works with engines equipped namely Legacy engines.

I have the new Legacy Wabash GP9, maybe it's quilling but the constant ringing in my ears is preventing me from noticing the difference 
I do detect some variance in sound, but in all honesty I'm not sure what to even look "hear" for.
Even without that feature the GP9 has terrific sounds and runs great using just the new "Legacy Cab-1L/Base-1L" system, nice slow speed too.
I run my TMCC and Legacy engines thru DCS anyway, so the quilling isn't a deal breaker for me, but I thought I'd reconnect just the Cab/Base-1L again just to see what was going on.
According to the manual you have to tell the remote whether it is controlling a Legacy horn or not. Page 9 of the base/cab1L manual.
Yep, did that and got the 2 beeps to let me know it was in Legacy mode. I'll try again, maybe I'm being too heavy-handed on the horn button.
Or not heavy enough. Pone I have only seen this at the York demo but definitely the harder you push it quills. Start light until it just blows, then apply a little more pressure. See if it changes.

It does work, just have to be "agile" using the button (maybe something like a laptop trackpoint button would be better to use).
Now to try it using DCS 
I guess I'll have to invest in one for the Lug meeting.
It appears to work with DCS as well, but not as good as it does using the CAB1-L. I can press the horn button on my DCS handheld and produce a varying tone of sorts, at least to my ears.
Probably not. The DCS system can't send out the command that varies the horn. As far as I knw the DCS is an on/off switch. The button on the Cab1L is an analog button. Sensitive to pressure changes.
LOL! I knew I was hearing things, but horns?!?!?!
Doesn't look like a way to do the 6 set Railroad speeds either. Not a big surprise that feature would be missing.
