I recently opened the Lionel Acela and placed in on a nice straight section of the layout. Guess what? With Cab 2--nothing.
After some thinking, we got out a Cab-1 and The fun Began. Amazing!!
The Question--How do we operate the Acela with Legacy Cab 2??

When you set up the Acela you must set the Control Type to Cab1 or TMCC. If it's set to Leg (Legacy) it will sit there and do nothing. Only Legacy engines will run in LEG mode. All others ignore the commands as they're not the same as TMCC commands. Also remember to set the engine type to ACLA as this will give you the icons on the remote to operate all the extra features.

Larry Pages 55 - 58 in the manual will show you how to add an engine to the base with the remote. An engine module can do it but it is just as easy to add it yourself. Once you do a couple it becomes second nature. If you already have the Acela added to your remote you can get to the edit features screens by pressing ENG, then enter the Acela's ID Number, then press the INFO button. This will get you to the setup screens. They will be displayed across the remote.
