If you bought the Atlas version, MTH or Lionel it really does not matter.  You will enjoy this 28 minute video featuring the CZ being pulled by CB&Q, DRG&W and WP from Chicago to the West Coast.  Lots of great scenery and a nostalgic look back at life and train travel in the 50's.

Best viewed in Full Screen mode.  ENJOY.

I wish I could remember more from the early 1950s when my Mother took my brother and I on a trip from NYC to San Francisco aboard the California Zephyr.  We rode the PRR car the whole way.  Seeing this film brings back memories of the sleeping arrangements and the dinning car but I don't remember going in the vista dome.  I think my mother didn't want to walk too far from our room, especially with two young boys. We had a lot of fun on that train, especially at night while lying on the bed looking out window watching the scenery go by so quickly.  It took us four days and three nights to make the trip.  We made the return trip in my Uncle's 1950 Pontiac convertible; no I 80 back then.

there as to be a niche market for travel like this...  faster than driving , and more interesting than air. I just wonder if folks would have the ability to actually pay attention to their surroundings instead of just wondering when they will arrive (present company excluded).  you would think that even operating a train like this , lets say bi-monthly round trip would draw enough interest to make it economically viable. could this be replicated in our time?
